My Story
Expressing myself through movement became my medicine from a young age. I grew up in a family of music lovers who blasted albums while dancing and singing around the living room. Today, I use yoga asana, breath, conscious intention, and a curated playlist to enjoy each beautiful present moment.
I was in a bit of a low place when I began practicing yoga in 2010, but I instantly fell in love with how its flow took me out of my thinking mind. As I moved from pose to pose, I could begin to release a sadness that had been dwelling inside me. One of the first lessons yoga had for me is that we are not our thoughts and emotions, we only feel them. Leaving my first yoga class, I felt my sense of self-worth growing and an excitement to follow it further.
One class at a time, I began to take back the powerful hold my emotions had over me (and I continue to do this with every class I take). But yoga isn’t all work, it is also so much fun. Yoga allows me to feel more confident in my body and my skin as I move through poses I could have never imagined. I find joy in discovering new music through my yoga teachers and am extremely impacted by the sense of community I feel in a studio surrounded by other students.
As my love for yoga grew, a new desire sparked within me - I wanted to share yoga with others. The universe aligned for me in 2018, when I began my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at Woom Center in NYC. The coursework of yoga and sound therapy in a supportive and creative environment truly fed my soul.
A few months after my certification, I taught my first charity yoga class raising $1,000 for a local organization, No Limits Cafe. This was the moment I realized the real power of what I could do with yoga - to serve those in need. During COVID lockdown in 2020, I began offering virtual charity classes through ZOOM. I have raised over $8,000 for local and national charities to date and have no plans of stopping!
In 2022, I completed Tula Yoga’s 35hr Prenatal Yoga certification. This is a special practice of yoga poses and meditation to prepare the body and mind for labor and motherhood. I absoltuely love seeing my students benefit from it!
I currently teach weekly at Hot & Soul Yoga in Middletown, Open Heart Yoga in Red Bank, and also offer a variety of virtual and in-person group and one-on-one classes. I would love to customize a class to fit your personal or group’s needs!
